Metro Manila is lucky not to be on the path of the wrath of Super Typhoon Haiyan, or locally known as "Bagyong Yolanda" (Typhoon Yolanda), since the area is located in the northern part of the Philippines. As of posting, the super typhoon is wreaking havoc in central Philippines - the Visayas region.

In the Philippines, summertime is synonymous to mangoes and all other mouth-watering fruits, such as watermelons. Mangoes are commercially available all year round, and this is due to artificial farming methods. However, mango trees naturally blossom around the first quarter of the year. The fruits reach at their final stage before getting picked by April or May, and this makes their connection to the Philippine summer. Aside from their leaves and their fruit, these trees have other "green" properties.

SHOOT and SCOOT PH is not trying to be a doomsday fear monger since the infamous Mayan long-count calendar is supposed to end in less than a month. Some believe that a cataclysmic cosmic event would occur on December 21, 2012 - the date when this Mayan long-count calendar ends. As Charlie Frost from the movie 2012 said "The bible calls this the apocalypse, Christians call it the rapture, the I-Ching... the end of the world my friend."

This is the BSA Twin Towers located at St. Francis Square, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, Philippines. This photo was taken from Annapolis St., Greenhills, San Juan City on a rainy evening. These towers are just one of the many twin towers / twin buildings within Ortigas Center and the entire Metro Manila.

Tropical Storm Kai-Tak / Bagyong Helen

It was a soggy and a windy day today all over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to Tropical Storm Kai-Tak, locally known as Bagyong Helen. According to the latest news, the said weather disturbance will have a landfall tomorrow, and it is expected to intensify the southwest monsoon (habagat) which will cause more sudden downpours, such as what happened this afternoon at around 2:30pm.

I still had to go to work this afternoon even if the sky was raining like a boss because of the southwest monsoon (habagat) that was being pulled in by Typhoon Haikui. I could have excused myself if I didn't want to report, but I really liked to go and see what has been going on outside lately. So, I prepped up my gear and went out for an adventure.

It has been raining for more than a week already, and I had a chance to get a break from work because of it. In the afternoon, I needed to buy something, so I went to Robinsons Galleria with my heavy-duty umbrella and my almost outdated tablet.

It is already the first of August, but Typhoon Gener / Saola (Int'l) isn't done wreaking havoc yet. The gust of wind got stronger and got more frequent today. Same goes for unexpected downpours that catch most pedestrians off-guard. Therefore, it is still causing a lot of inconvenience in both personal and commercial aspects.

Since it's the first day of August, SHOOT and SCOOT PH calls this the Au "gust" Rush.

Typhoon Saola / Bagyong Gener

Even though the storm didn't have a land fall, Typhoon Gener did a considerable amount of damage around Metro Manila. Suspension of classes has been announced as early as 11:00pm last night. Some offices have also suspended their operations today due to the inconvenience that the weather has brought.

The weather has been going crazy since early morning today because of the low pressure area that's been around for a while. Classes has been suspended and some streets are still flooded; therefore, SHOOT and SCOOT PH had a crazy idea and has declared that today is a "Caution! Wet Floor Sign Day" all throughout Metro Manila.

The wet summer phenomenon is on its second year already, and it is once again in full swing these days.

It has been raining the whole day, but it ended up with a positive vibe because of this rainbow above Ortigas, particularly at the proximity of Medical City.
