Green Mangoes

In the Philippines, summertime is synonymous to mangoes and all other mouth-watering fruits, such as watermelons. Mangoes are commercially available all year round, and this is due to artificial farming methods. However, mango trees naturally blossom around the first quarter of the year. The fruits reach at their final stage before getting picked by April or May, and this makes their connection to the Philippine summer. Aside from their leaves and their fruit, these trees have other "green" properties.

Bicol's Pride (Orgullo Kan Bikol - OKB 2012)

Orgullo Kan Bikol (OKB) or "Bicol's Pride," as translated in English, is a trade fair happening from October 4 to October 7, 2012 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 2. This event showcases the products of the cities and the towns from provinces in the Bicol Region (Region 5).

The entrance fee is only 10 pesos, and you get to see (and buy) things from the colorful culture and heritage of the land of sugar, spice, and everything nice.

SHOOT and SCOOT PH went to a local fish market to find the freshest catch and to snag some fish for dinner. While waiting for the fishmonger to take my choices of fruits de mer, I managed to snap some photos of what's in store.

New 1000-Peso and 500-Peso bills are not as common as the new 20, 50, and 100-Peso lower denomination bills which make them a "collectors" item as of now.

This crispy, fold-less, and new 1000-Peso bill, with serial number A248243, had passed through the hands of SHOOT and SCOOT PH several weeks ago.

10th National Coconut Festival

Coconut is also known as the "Tree of Life" and the coconut is not called this for nothing. This tree has many uses from the roots to the tops.

In the 10th National Coconut Festival, the common uses and the recently discovered uses of this wonder tree was showcased for free.
